The Tree Swallow Project: Year 2!

The tree swallows are back! Dr. Lauri Green, assistant professor in the Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences, recently discussed year two of Bloomsburg University’s  Tree Swallow Project with Don Jacobs on WNEP’s television program “Pennsylvania Outdoor Life.” The program aired on May 17 and can be seen at https://www.wnep.com/mobile/article/entertainment/television/pa-outdoor-life/tree-swallow-project-bloomsurg-university-lauri-green/523-9b9b9f1b-d2f1-4cf0-82af-01e45866994f   During year two, the Tree Swallow Project will focus on how the availability and consumption of prey relates to the reproductive timing of the tree swallows in artificial wetlands. Teaming up with Dr. Green are graduate student Ty Basinger and undergraduates Shelley Rider, Gabrielle Leonard, Briaunna Makar, and Lacie Pichler. The Penn State College of Medicine Primary Care Scholars’ Program is an exceptional opportunity for those who are interested in attending medical school and specializing in primary care. Dr. Stefanie Kroll, stream ecologist, presents seminar

Seminar speaker Dr. Stefanie Kroll with host Dr. Steve Rier, professor Dr. Stefanie Kroll, Assistant Research Professor, in the Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science at Drexel University shared her expertise  on   aquatic macroinvertebrate ecology at the BAHS seminar series on November 1, 2019. Dr. Kroll's talk was entitled"  Macroinvertebrates Tell All: Indicators of Human Impacts on Streams" Dr. Kroll is the    project science director of the Delaware River Watershed Initiative, a collaboration among over 50 nonprofit groups working in watershed conservation. She has a PhD in ecology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY.
