Marcus Roberts admitted to IU master's program

Marcus Roberts Marcus Roberts was admitted to the master's program at the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  Marcus graduated cum laude in  2018 with a major in Biology, natural history, and minors in anthropology and geoscience. He is also a graduate of the Bloomsburg University Honors Program. His honors thesis investigated the effects of tree canopy on streams and was under the direction of Dr. Steven Rier. He was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi based on his outstanding academic performance. Marcus also conducted an internship at  a fish hatchery run by the Montour County Sportsman Working for Kids. Congratulations Marcus!

Dr. Klingerman earns tenure and promotion to associate professor

Dr. Candice Klingerman Dr. Candice Klingerman was granted tenure and promotion to associate professor. Dr. Klingerman earned her Ph.D. from Lehigh University and conducted a post-doctoral fellowship at Penn State College of Medicine.  At Bloomsburg University, she teaches  Introduction to Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology I and II laboratories,  Internship in Biology, Current Topics: Hormones and Obesity, and Current Topics: Animal Behavior. She has attended workshops sponsored by the Teaching and Learning Enhancement  program, the PASSHE Learning Academy, and the Council of Undergraduate Research.   Dr. Klingerman’s research focuses on the neuroendocrine control of nutrition and reproduction. Her laboratory examines the mechanisms underlying diseases of energy dysregulation, such as obesity, from an evolutionary standpoint.   She has published five peer-reviewed manuscripts and a letter to the editor of a scientific journal in the past five years. Emily Ashberry defends Master's Thesis

Dr. Steven Rier, Emily Ashberry, and Dr. Thomas Klinger, Biology Graduate coordinator Emily Ashberry kicked off the BAHS Fall 2019 seminar series by successfully defending her Master's Thesis on August 30th.  Emily's work investigated the environmental context of algal priming of coarse particulate organic matter decomposition in streams. Emily's research on local streams was under the direction of Dr. Steven Rier . She presented the results of her thesis meeting at the international meeting of the Society for Freshwater Science. Emily is the first graduate of BAHS 3 + 2 Masters program. Congratulations Emily!
