BAHS names Scholarship Recipients


Allison Sowers and Amy Szwajkowski have been awarded the Biological and Allied Health Sciences Scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.


Allison Sowers
Allison Sowers is a Biology major in the pre-medical sciences option from Gardners, PA. Alli, a Dean’s List student, is a member of Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society and a recipient of the Dr. Stephen Schell Scholarship.  She served as Vice-President of the Pre-medical Sciences Club and Fundraising Chair of Colleges against Cancer.  Alli received the Michael & Beth Boguski Professional U Capstone Experience Grant to intern in Kenya with International Medical Aid. She has also received a CoST Professional Experience Grant to conduct research on telomeres in the laboratory of Dr. Kate Beishline. Alli has volunteered extensively in the community with AGAPE, the Big Event, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, and the Ronald McDonald House.






Amy Szwajkowski
Amy Szwajkowski, a Dean’s List student from Bensalem,  PA, is a mentor in the Bloomsburg University Honors College.  She is a member of the Presidential Leadership Program where she has engaged in community outreach and professional development. She was recognized by the interdisciplinary honor society Phi Kappa Phi for outstanding academic performance during her freshman year.  She is a member of the Biology and Allied Health Club, the Pre-medical Sciences Club and the Red Cross Club. She serves as the secretary of the Tennis Club. Amy is currently volunteering in Dr. Beishline’s laboratory. Amy is a Health Sciences major and plans to become a physician. She has served the community by working with EOS horseback riding, Relay for Life, the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum, Rotaract, and Friendship Meals.
