Tri-Beta receives platinum chapter award

The Bloomsburg University chapter of Tri-Beta Biology Honor society has received the platinum award for their donation of $240 to the national Tri-Beta Research Foundation. The chapter conducted a fundraiser at the 2019 Northeast District 2 Tri-Beta Convention. held at Bloomsburg University.  Convention participants were asked to make a donation  for a guess at how many microcentrifuge tubes were in a large aquarium.  The winner, the person who guessed the number closest to the actual number of microcentrifuge tubes, received a prize basket. All of the proceeds,  were donated to the Tri Beta Research Foundation.

 The Tri-Beta Research Foundation provides grants to support undergraduate research.  To be eligible, students must be Tri-Beta members and submit a research proposal outlining their objectives, experimental design, methods, budget, and predicted results of their projects. This year the Research Foundation awarded $66,535 to 117 Tri-Beta members. Past Bloomsburg University recipients of Tri-Beta Undergraduate Research grants include: Andrew Cross, 2018-2019;  Beverly Andre, 2016-2017; Adam Kulp, 2014-2015; Adam Bertino, Julianne Heater, Michael Tekin, 2013-2014; Jessica Willis, 2012-2013; Megan Dager, Ghaith Ibrahim, 2010-2011; Michael Hollman, 2009-2010.
