Victoria Roper defends Master's Thesis

Victoria Roper
Congratulations to Victoria Roper who successfully defended her thesis on November 8, 2019. Victoria presented her research on "Effectiveness of Artificial Wetlands in Supporting Reproducing Populations of Aerial Insectivores:  Investigating Reproduction, Body Condition, and Diet of Tree Swallows (Tachycineta bicolor)." Victoria's tree swallow project has been featured in many regional media outlets including Bloomsburg's Press Enterprise, Hazleton's Standard Speaker, the Bloomsburg University Magazine,  and  WNEP's Pennsylvania Outdoor Life program. The goal of the tree swallow project is to examine the nesting, reproductive success, chick growth rates, and foraging behaviors of tree swallows and to compare populations in natural and artificial wetlands. Victoria is an accomplished researcher. She earned an award for Best Graduate Student Poster at the Susquehanna River Symposium at Bucknell University last fall. She has also presented research at the PA Wildlife Society conference in State College and at CoST Research Day. Victoria's research mentor is Dr. Lauri Green.
