Meet our New BAHS faculty

BAHS welcomes three new tenure-track faculty members to the department.

 Dr. Kate Beishline
Dr. Beishline is a life-long resident of Pennsylvania. She earned her B.S. from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia and her PhD in Biochemistry from Drexel University College of Medicine. Her area of expertise is the Molecular Biology of Cancer and Aging. She studies the dynamics and maintenance of mammalian telomeres and how these pathways are important in cancer and aging. She had taught previously at Drexel University College of Medicine. She is currently teaching Cell Biology lab and Concepts in Biology 1 lab. For fun, she enjoys painting and photography, gardening, and spending time with her many pets.
Dr. Lauri Green
Dr. Green grew up in Los Angeles, California. she earned both her B.S. and PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her area of expertise is in nutrient-algal interactions on trophic dynamics in estuarine habitats.  Her research investigates both the effects of nutrient enrichment on food webs and the management practices that reduce eutrophication. Dr. Green has taught
courses at University of California, Los Angeles and Portland Community College in Oregon. she is currently teaching Biodiversity and Conservation, Concepts in Biology 1 Lab I and Concepts in Biology 2 Lab. For fun, Dr. Green enjoys playing with her kids, boating, whitewater rafting, kayaking, and hiking. She has a passion for good food and live theater. Dr. Green shares that when "teaching both applied and theoretical ecology; I strive to improve learning opportunities for all students, especially underrepresented minorities and students with disabilities. Dr. Abby Hare-Harris

Dr. Abby Hare-Harris
Dr. Hare-Harris grew up in Ashland, PA , graduating from North Schuylkill High School. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Biostatistics at Ursinus College. During her junior year, she studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Dr. Hare-Harris earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Rutgers University. She completed postdoctoral training at the Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI) at Geisinger Health System. Her area of expertise is Human and Molecular Genetics with a focus on neuropsychiatric disorders. Her research focuses on the identification and phenotypic characterization of rare genetic variants in individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders. She uses large genomic datasets that are linked to electronic health record data to assess the clinical effect of these genetic variants. She was the director of the ADMI internship program from 2014-2017.  Dr. Hare-Harris was a Teaching Assistant for Genetic Analysis at Rutgers University and an instructor for Mad Science of West New Jersey.  At BU,  Dr. Hare-Harris is currently teaching Anatomy and Physiology Lab and Concepts in Biology 1 Lab. In future semesters she will be teaching Bioinformatics and Genetics. She and her husband like to travel and spending summers camping and racing off-road trucks. She also like to run, paint, cook, and quilt.
