Carrie-Anne Barry earns top poster award at Health Sciences Symposium




Carrie-Anne Barry was the first prize poster winner in the undergraduate division at the 25th Annual Health Sciences Symposium, held on April 15 at Kehr Union. Carrie's poster discussed multiple sclerosis, including its pathophysiology, incidence, causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.  Carrie, a B.S. Biology major, pre-medical science option and chemistry minor, graduated summa cum laude. She is a member of Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the pre-medical sciences club. She has held leadership positions as a Columbia County 4-H Counselor: Dairy Division 2012-2013 at Bloomsburg Fair, a mentor for college bound seniors at Columbia County Christian School, and as an assistant coach for Bloomsburg AYSO.  Carrie  was a member of BU's equestrian team and was the captain of the ACSI Academic Bowl. In the community she has volunteered at the SPCA, at Geisinger Medical Center, and at Blazing Saddles Horse and Pony Club. She has conducted community outreach and worked in soup kitchens at  Raleigh Rescue Mission, in Raleigh, NC and has volunteered at AGAPE in Bloomsburg. Carrie has shadowed at Geisinger Medical Center and Bloomsburg Veterinary Hospital and plans to attend medical school.Congratulations Carrie!
