Faculty and student publication: Synapsin discovered in sperm!

Dr. William Coleman, Adam Kulp (2015, B.S. Biology), and Dr. Jennifer Venditti have recently published a research article entitled “Functional distribution of synapsin I in human sperm” in FEBS Open Bio (2015 Sep 21;5:801-8. doi: 10.1016/j.fob.2015.09.006. eCollection 2015.).  This study is the first to investigate the localization and functional role of synapsin in sperm cells.  This collaborative research project that combines the fields of neuroscience and reproductive biology was supported by a Bloomsburg University Research and Scholarship Grant, Beta Beta Beta Foundation Research Scholarship, and an Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Award.
