BAHS Graduate Students take honors at CPUB meeting

BAHS graduate students Heather Llewellyn and Rebecca Price were recognized for outstanding research presentations at the annual meeting of the Commonwealth of PA University Biologists (CPUB) held at Mansfield University. Dr. Nathan Thomas, CPUB President from Shippensburg University, is shown at left presenting awards to Heather and Rebecca.  Heather received second place in the graduate student division for her poster  "Acute Sublethal Effects of the Neonicotinoid Imidacloprid on the Honey Bee Brain: Preliminary Findings."  Heather is mentored by Drs. Surmacz and Hranitz. In the platform presentation category, Rebecca earned second prize for her oral presentation entitled " Understanding how EphA2 and the MAPK pathway contribute to melanoma progression.” Becky is also the recipient of a research grant from the Pennsylvania Academy of Sciences. Dr. Hess is Rebecca's mentor.
