Two birds walked into a bar, the third one ducked....

The bird maternity ward is bustling: mama birds are busy feeding their hungry babies, and I'm sure breaking up some bird sibling scuffles in the nest (MOM! He's squishing my wing!)

While these babies are busy growing big and strong, Dr. Green's research lab is busy collecting samples and data for their continuing wetland nesting project. The Green lab began this project several years ago and have established several local field locations, around Bloomsburg, where they track nesting, behavior, prey consumption and hatching of tachycineta bicolor (tree swallows 🐦). You can check out the Green Lab website for more information, or check out some of their recent tv-spots on WNEP's Pennsylvania Outdoor Life.

In other Dr. Green news, She recently authored a paper accepted into the journal, Regional Studies in Marine Science. The article titled "Management pathways for the successful reduction of nonpoint source nutrients in coastal ecosystems" focuses on Dr. Greens previous work in coastal ecology! While I'm sure Dr. Green misses trudging around in algea filled beaches, cuddling with baby birds seems much less messy. 😉

Healthy Pennsylvania wetlands are essential for these birds and other creatures to thrive, and this awesome research will hopefully shed light onto the ecology of these absolutely adorable research subjects! 🐣🌲🌳
