Mr. Kenneth Roszel, Director of Geisinger's Radiologic Technology Program, honored by BU

Mr. Ken Roszel

Mr.
Kenneth Roszel, the Director of the Radiologic Technology (RT) program at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), was honored recently as a Professional U champion. Mr. Roszel was nominated for this award by Dr. Angela Hess, BAHS chairperson, for his role in promoting professional and career development opportunities for our students. The RT program at GMC only accepts about 10 students per year and most of the students are undergraduates in the Medical Imaging program at BU. Geisinger’s RT program is one of the best in the area, and due to the educational team that Mr. Roszel has assembled to train our students, 95% of the students pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists board examination. Although this is exceptional and provides stellar job opportunities for our graduates from the program, Mr. Roszel has been instrumental in providing internships and job shadowing experiences for our Medical Imaging students. Through his help, the number of internships available have increased to 8-12 per semester.  Mr. Roszel has helped us place interns throughout the Geisinger network from the Grays Wood clinic in State College to Shamokin Hospital and to the Community Hospital in Scranton. These internship experiences have given our Medical Imaging students an edge when applying to clinical programs. The department is grateful for Mr. Roszel’s support in providing these professional development opportunities for our students.
