Meet Dr. Hilary DeBardeleben

 

Dr. Hilary DeBardeleben

BAHS welcomes Dr. Hilary DeBardeleben, a new tenure-track faculty member. 

Dr. Bardeleben grew up in Lancaster , Massachusetts, a semi- rural town full of apple orchards. She earned a B.S. in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. DeBardeleben has taught previously at Delaware County Community College,  Haverford College, La Salle University and Susquehanna University. At Bloomsburg University, she currently teaches human biology, Concepts in Biology 1 and Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2. In her research, Dr. DeBardeleben investigates sleep behaviors in the model organism C. elegans in order to understand the function of sleep in organisms that lack a brain. When she has some free time, Dr. DeBardeleben enjoys reading epic fantasy novels,  playing board games, hiking, playing ultimate frisbee,  singing in choirs, and volunteering at animal shelters.  Welcome Dr. D.!
